Raksha Bandhan, which honours the unbreakable bond between a brother and sister, is one of the most popular celebrations in India. This day is traditionally commemorated when a sister ties the holy thread around her brother's wrist and prays for his protection and well-being. In exchange, the brother makes a protection pledge for her and then presents rakhi gifts for the sisters. A magnificent occasion  which strengthens love amongst siblings deserves to be celebrated with delectable fare and entertaining activities. This makes the Raksha Bandhan celebrations more enjoyable and thrilling, especially for the younger family members. Nowadays, top preschools and day-care with preschools nurture this auspicious day by creating a special bond between the children. Take a look at some of these activities that top preschools and day-care with preschools organise for their children on this occasion of Rakhi.

1.      Storytelling and reading. Storytelling is a fun and engaging activity  to do on Raksha Bandhan with children. Every child enjoys reading and listening to stories. Children will enjoy learning about the intriguing stories and legends from Indian history and Hindu mythology. Some of the interesting tales where Raksha Bandhan plays a crucial part include those of Lord Krishna and Draupadi; Emperor Humayun and Rani Karnavati; Yama and Yamuna; King Bali and Goddess Laxmi; and others. 2.      Engage in charitable action. Not every child is fortunate enough to be able to enjoy this holiday with the same fervour and opulence as other children. Your kids will learn the value of giving to others and doing good deeds through this.

5.      Puja Thali decoration. Create a puja thali decorating competition in your house or in your community to make Raksha Bandhan more enjoyable for your adorable little children. To prepare for this activity, gather the necessary supplies, such as plates, fresh flowers, rolitika, chawal, Haldi, sweets, and other foods. Bring all the children together and give each one a dish and some decorations. Set a time restriction for decorating the puja thali, such as 10 to 30 minutes. The winner is either the youngster who completes the challenge first or the puja thali with the most exquisite design.
