How to Induce a Daily Routine in Playschool Kids?

At Medhaam daycare with preschool program, we successfully instill a routine in the kids. However, with the privileges and distractions, it can be difficult for a kid to stick to the same routine at home. So, what can you do as a parent in order to induce a daily routine in playschool kids? Here, we are with a handful of tips:

Clearly sketch out their mornings, afternoons, evenings, and nights.
First things first, introduce your kids to these four times of the day by drawing a house with a tree alongside a horizon. Draw a “sun” and make them say “morning”. Move this sun to a higher altitude and make them say “afternoon”. Next, move it to the side of the house and make them enunciate “evening”. Finally, replace the sun with a moon and a couple of stars calling it a “night”. Now, you can ask your kid to recreate the four times of the day. Once they are well-versed with these, you can move to the allocation of a variety of activities based on these very times of the day.

Allocate the activities.
As per these times of the day, allocate activities by writing them on a flashcard - waking up, getting up, breakfast, lunch, dinner, school time, arriving at home, watching TV, etc. You can take 4 boxes or baskets labeled with morning, afternoon, evening, and night. In one box, gather small objects such as toys, blocks, etc. Now, hold a flashcard and ask your kid to drop an object in one of the four boxes. For instance, read “wake up”, your kid should drop an object in the box labeled “morning”.

“Times of the Day” chart.
Stick a chart paper on the wall. Draw a timetable and label the columns as the times of the day. Let the kids copy it in their notebooks. Use the same flashcards and make them stick on the timetable. This will make them memorize the routine.

Add time to the chart.
Add time to the chart now. At Medhaam kid's day care & kindergarten, we teach the kids how to draw a clock and read the time. So, you won’t have to do the legwork of teaching them the intricacies of time. Simply set the time say fix the wake-up time at 11 AM. You can do the gesture for waking up such as yawning, rubbing your eyes, and then looking at your watch. Do respective gestures for other activities as well.

Play the "Daily Routines Memory Game" if you have more than one kid.
Erase the chart from the board and take off the flashcards. Now, get your kids to swap charts. Your kids are going to test each other on the times they do things.

Play the daily routines theatre.
Do a role-play of an interview. Simply say out loud and introduce your kid. Ask them about the various times of their day such as waking up at 11 AM etc. Allow them to add a little bit of fun to the role-play by making them laugh.

Narrate the tale of “Tom’s Cat”.
There is no iota of doubt that the best way to teach your children something is via the help of a tale or a story. You can download it from the online portal of Medhaam care preschool. As you go through each page, point to the pictures, elicit each routine action, elicit times on the clocks and times of the day and ask if your kids do those things at that time or time of day.

So, these were a handful of ways to induce a daily routine in your kids when they are at home. Wish to enroll your kids at the best-ever daycare? Reach out to Medhaam kindergarten childcare now at https://www.medhaam.com/
