Easy Ways to Understand Child Psychology and Development

Who said that parenting was easy? Understanding your child even when he/she doesn’t say anything is one of the most daunting tasks on the planet. At Medhaam childcare and kindergarten, we have experts and trained teaching staff who are taught the nuances of child psychology and how to understand the various stages of emotional development in children. This is the reason why we at Medhaam childcare and preschool are able to cater to the needs of your child in the best way possible. However, being a parent, it’s pretty obvious that you may not be well-acquainted with the various techniques involved in understanding what your children think or how they are growing mentally surrounded by a variety of emotional reactions. In this blog, our daycare and kindergarten will share some very easy ways of understanding child psychology and emotional development. Read till the end. Let’s get started.

Observe keenly.
One of the most efficacious ways of learning about your child’s experience on something is through the art of observation. No matter whatever your children say, just pay heed to them with piqued interest. You can observe their actions, change in their temperament and their facial expressions. Observe what your child likes to do the most, how he/she reacts while doing something he/she dislikes or how socially-active they are. While you fetch answers to all these questions, don’t judge your child. Please keep in mind that every child is unique. Just observe them quietly without forming any biases in mind.

Devote time to your children.
In this fast-paced world, to be honest, all your child wants is you and your attention. As an embodiment of daycare and kindergarten, we have observed this that children are elated when their parents get invovke in some school work or play with them or simply listen to their “how-was-your-day?” talk. If you need to understand your child, then do make time for him/her. Just some quality time and there you go!

The environment around your child.
It is pretty evident that a child’s personality, thoughts, behavious and almost everything has something to do with the environment he/she is growing up in. Spare some time and gauge the environment surrounding your child at home and at school. This is the reason why we invite parents to visit the children in our childcare and kindergarten so that they can see the positive environment we have created for the children and they can try to cultivate the same at home.

Be all ears for them.
One of the most important aspects of having a conversation with your kids is to be a patient listener. There will be times when your kid will be babbling, just listen to them ardently. You might pick a word or two even from the gibberish, especially some non-verbal cues. You can kay facus on the way they stress on certain words and phrases, their facial expressions while they are speaking, how frequently they have an eye contact with you and their hand gestures. Make sure that you maje your child realise that he/she is being heard and is taken seriously. Try not to pester your kid too much as it can inhibit opening up to you in future.

Let them express freely.
As aforementioned, children may not be able to express everything through words. This brings drawings, dance, music and other fun activities into the picture. At Medhaam daycare and kindergarten, we make sure that the kid devotes ample time to such activities in order to express better. And who knows, your child might end up picking a hobby. SHow interest in their artwork or the songs they sing but don’t tend to over-interpret.

That’s all for now. Make sure that you make your child feel comfortable while observing them or interpreting their work. Wish to learn more? We can help you out.
